We combine two destinations in a single unforgettable experience for you who are a nature lover and love adventure sports, make this visit walking in this mountainous area of Arequipa and descend the hills of the Chachani volcano by bicycle.
We will start this tour at 07:30 am. Pick up from the hotel and transfer to the north side of the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve. Along the way we will observe vicuñas, llamas and alpacas. We will make a stop to drink coca tea at the Pampa Cañahuas viewpoint located at 4000 meters above sea level. From this point we will observe the north face of the Misti, Chachani and Picchu Picchu volcanoes.
Around 09:30 we'll reach Puruña (stone forest). The guide will explain about the formation of these unique rocks and you will observe the natural beauty of this charming place, which is rarely visited and will allow us to explore it calmly, appreciating the rock formations that will make you feel like you are walking on another planet.
In Puruña we will walk for about an hour observing and taking pictures of this very special place made up of steep white rocks of volcanic origin then we'll go back by mountain bikes. The 4x4 WD accompanies the group all the time during the descent, which is about 2:30 hrs; depending on the riders speed.
At the beginning we will ride the bikes through an extensive Pampa (almost flat terrain) and it will be necessary to pedal. After the Pampa it will be all downhill, on this route there are many curves, but the road is wide enough to enjoy the descent on bicycles safely. This road used to be the old road from Arequipa to Puno (currently there is another paved road), nowadays hardly anyone uses this old road, because it is not paved, this fact allows us to descend the volcano and enjoy it just for ourselves.
Almost the entire bicycle route will be on a dirt road, only at the end, very close to reaching Arequipa, we will pass through a stretch of paved road. The landscape is incredible, we will have an impressive view of the Misti volcano at all times and it is possible to find guanacos along the way, you will have the freedom to make the stops you like to take pictures.
We are back in Arequipa between 14:00 and 15:00 hrs.
