Arequipa – Down hill Chachani Volcano

El inicio de la Aventura

DOWN HILL CHACHANI VOLCANO (4800 m.a.s.l)

We will pick you up from the hotel at 8.00 am and will drive in a 4 WD transportation for about 3 hours. We'll drive through the National Reserve Salinas y Aguada Blanca where will see different andean medicinal plants as chacahcoma and tola, and sometimes on the road is possible to observe south American camelids as vicuñas or guanacos.

Around 11:00 am we arrive at AZUFRERO, located at 4800 m, this spot is known as the antennas of Chachani volcano. Here we have a brief explanation with a description of the way and the use of bicycles, finally we will deliver to you the safety equipment. Almost the entire bicycle route will be on a dirt road, only at the end, very close to reaching Arequipa, we will pass through a stretch of paved road.

This road used to be the old road from Arequipa to Puno (currently there is another paved road), nowadays hardly anyone uses this old road, because it is not paved, this fact allows us to descend the volcano and enjoy it just for ourselves. The 4x4 WD accompanies the group all the time during the descent, which is about 2:30 hrs; depending on the riders speed.

The landscape is incredible, we will have an impressive view of the Misti volcano at all times and it is possible to find guanacos along the way, you will have the freedom to make the stops you like to take pictures.

Upon entering Arequipa, we headed to the viewpoint of Carmen Alto, located in Cayma, from where observe Chilina Valley, and we have a beautiful view of the Chili river, Pre- Inkas terraces, and the three volcanoes of Arequipa, Chachani , Misti and Picchu Picchu. In this viewpoint it is possible to carry out extreme activities such as the zipline on the Chili river or the 15-meter swing with the best view of the Arequipa valley. Both activities are optional and have an additional cost.

We are back in Arequipa between 14:00 and 15:00 hrs.
