Sogay waterfall & Quequeña petroglyphs
08:00 hr. We will pick you up from the hotel, and then we will go to the countryside zone of Arequipa, we will drive like an hour to south east direction. Will drive crossing the town and will see some of the most traditional areas, and in the other hand some of the most recent ones too; will visit Sabandia, Characato, Yarabamba, Quequeña and Sogay towns.
Upon we arrive to Sogay we will hike for an hour and a half to the waterfall, during the walk will see some farming animals, like horses, cows, and sheeps, also will observe a pretty landscape with agricultural fields in the terraces which were made out in the pre-Incas time. There are many terraces in this country side, and most all of them still working for different kind of crops.
Once we arrive to the waterfall, you could take a bath in order to catch a breath in this natural pool, will rest and spend a relaxed time.
Afterwards we will return to Sogay square, where the transport waits for the group, then will go to Quequeña, visit the church dedicated to Saint Joseph, or if you desire will climb the Soncomarca hill, which is a natural viewpoint, later will hike to Guayalopo petroglyphs (15min) here the guide will explain the importance of them and the meaning for the locals.
From Quequeña will drive to Yarabamba an Characato, considered the crib of the "Arequipeños", here will take lunch, in a traditional restaurant, or "picanteria", after lunch will go to Sabandia.
Before to arrive to Arequipa, we will visit the watermill in Sabandia, it is a nice colonial building that was made out in 1621, here will observe some alpacas, vicuñas and a bull fighter, "the exterminator", it is a real bull (in Arequipa, the bulls fight each other) besides here is the place where do outdoor activities like horse riding and zip lining.
Finally we will feel relaxed, bit tired but much more satisfied and will arrive to Arequipa around 5:00 pm.
