Full Day Colca Canyon

More time to rest - more time to enjoy

We start the tour early, at 5:00 am, we will go for you; this schedule is what it takes to get to the viewpoint of the condors in time to observe them patiently. Before arriving at the condor viewpoint we will make a couple of stops, one of them for breakfast, also is possible to get the breakfast on board, upon request.

The distance from Arequipa to Chivay is 209 km (129 miles), by an asphalted road, which will allow us to reach the viewpoint of the condor between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m, all the time thinking about safety and speed control, essential factors for our tours. Upon arrival to viewpoint, many tourists will be back to Chivay, we will wait a little and we can enjoy the tranquility of the canyon, and the flight of the condor, when they return to their nests.

We will take a short walk of about 45 minutes through the viewpoints of the canyon, and then we will return to Chivay; on this way back, we can make more stops, we can visit the traditional villages, as well as the observation points of the Colca Valley, where there are thousands of hectares of agricultural terraces.

As it is a private tour, it facilitates us to avoid stopping in the tourist places and at same time, spending more time in those of greater cultural or scenic interest.

Afterwards we will visit the hot springs, whose medicinal water ranging from 35 °C and 39 °C, it is advisable to stay at most one hour in the water, but the time of stay is flexible, it is also possible to exclude this visit and distribute this time, in the Salinas National Reserve and Aguada Blanca, which we will visit after lunch, during the trip back to Arequipa.

The lunch we have is buffet type, this way we can taste the diversity and exquisiteness of Peruvian food. In the Colca typical dishes are prepared of alpaca meat and trout, which among others, will be part of the menu.

After lunch, we will return to Arequipa, on the way we will visit the lookout of the volcanoes, located at 4910 m (16108 ft); is the highest point of the tour, there we will observe volcanoes such as Ampato, Sabancaya (active one) , Hualca Hualca, Misti and Chachani, we can also observe the Mismi, which is the mountain from where the Amazon River is born, afterwards we will visit the National Reserve Salinas and Aguada Blanca , where we will make some stops for observe llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas.

    Mas tiempo para descansar - mas tiempo para disfrutar

    Comenzamos el recorrido temprano, a las 5:00 a.m., iremos por usted a su hotel; esta es la hora de salida para llegar al punto de vista de los cóndores a tiempo para observarlos pacientemente. Antes de llegar al mirador del cóndor realizaremos un par de paradas, una de ellas para desayunar, también es posible tomar el desayuno a bordo, previa solicitud.

    La distancia de Arequipa a Chivay es de 209 km (129 millas), por una carretera asfaltada, lo que nos permitirá llegar al mirador del cóndor entre las 9:00 a.m. y las 9:30 a.m., todo el tiempo nosotros pensamos en la seguridad y el control de velocidad, ambos factores esenciales para nuestros tours. Al llegar al mirador, muchos turistas estarán regresando a Chivay, esperaremos un poco y disfrutaremos de la tranquilidad del cañón y del vuelo del cóndor, cuando estos regresen a sus nidos.

    Realizaremos una breve caminata de aproximadamente 45 minutos por los miradores del cañón, y luego regresaremos a Chivay; en este camino de regreso, podemos hacer más paradas, podemos visitar los pueblos tradicionales, así como los puntos de observación del Valle del Colca, donde hay miles de hectáreas de terrazas agrícolas.

    Al tratarse de una excursión privada, nos permite evitar detenernos en los lugares muy turísticos y, al mismo tiempo, nos permite dedicar más tiempo a aquellos lugares de mayor interés cultural o paisajístico.

    Luego visitaremos las aguas termales, cuyas aguas medicinales oscilan entre los 35 °C y los 39 °C, es recomendable permanecer como máximo una hora en el agua, pero el tiempo de estadía es flexible, también es posible excluir esta visita. y distribuir esta tiempo, en la Reserva Nacional de Salinas y Aguada Blanca, que visitaremos después del almuerzo; en el viaje de regreso a Arequipa.

    El almuerzo que tendremos es tipo buffet, de esta forma podemos degustar la diversidad y exquisitez de la comida peruana. En el Colca se preparan platos típicos a base de carne de alpaca y trucha, que entre otros, formarán parte del menú.

    Luego del almuerzo, retornaremos a Arequipa, en el camino visitaremos el mirador de los volcanes, ubicado a 4910 m (16108 pies); es el punto más alto del recorrido, allí observaremos volcanes como Ampato, Sabancaya (activo), Hualca Hualca, Misti y Chachani, también podemos observar el Mismi, que es la montaña de donde nace el río Amazonas, luego visitaremos la Reserva Nacional Salinas y Aguada Blanca, donde realizaremos algunas paradas para observar llamas, alpacas y vicuñas.

  • The idea of this full day Colca tour is to visit and enjoy the canyon in a short time. Of course it is possible, but not if we leave at 3.00 am, as is usually thought; we leave a little later, at 5:00 am, it’s two hours more that you can rest in your hotel, in order to count on the strength and energy to take pleasure in the trip.
